On episode 68 of the podcast I bring you an interview with Steve Fagioli who runs FTE 4×4 Specialists in the UK. Last time we talked with Steve was after he came back from SEMA. This time Steve gives us some insight into what offroading is like in Europe and why he has chosen to specialize in Jeeps rather than a European based vehicle make such as Land Rover. I also recently dicovered a cool tool that you may be interested in if you run a CB or HAM radio in your vehicle. The Audio Interupt comes in a wide range of models made to suit the wiring harness needs for a range of vehicles. When a voice transmission is received on a 2 way-radio, the CB Monitor automatically mutes the stereo and switches the two front speaker to the 2 way radio voice while all other speaker go mute. It remains switched and muted for three seconds after the last voice transmission is received, then returns back to normal stereo play. It looks like its a fairly quick and easy installation. The Audio Interrupt makes it easy to enjoy some tunes (or your favorite offroading podcast) and never miss a call on the CB.

The last thing to talk about on today’s show is the Trans-America Trail. We’ve mentioned the Pan-American Highway on the show many times before but till now, I didn’t know anything about the Trans-America Trail (TAT). The Pan-American Highway runs from Alaska to Argentina but the Trans-American trails runs from east to west. The TAT is actually designed for moto travel and not 4×4 vehicle so not all sections of the trail can be traveled by a 4×4, from what I’ve been told. This trail has me intrigued and I’m really looking to know more. I’ll probably mention this trail more over the next few episodes but I’d really love to hear what you guys think about this adventure.
